BILAT USA 2.0 @ INORMS 2014

In this year´s INORMS 2014 Congress, taking place in Washington, DC, on 10 – 13 April 2014, one  session on ´Transatlantic research collaboration addressing global challenges´ will be organized by BILAT USA 2.0. Current developments regarding the transatlantic policy dialogue and strategic partnerships as well as new ways of supporting EU-US research collaboration shall be discussed among representatives from AAAS, Euraxess Links USA and the BILAT USA coordinator, DLR. Horizon 2020, the successor of the Seventh Framework Programme (FP7), shall be introduced as main means for realizing the EU´s international cooperation actions as of 2014.  The different instruments shall be discussed, as well as possible networking activities and joint initiatives implementing, among others, joint and coordinated calls.

The session will further give an overview of challenges and obstacles for transatlantic research cooperation as well as discuss possible ways of jointly tackling global challenges.

With the view of addressing research managers and university research administrators as utmost multipliers in the US the BILAT USA 2.0 session at INORMS 2014 is aiming at:

  • Promoting EU funding opportunities within the Horizon 2020 programme and encouraging participation
  • Raising awareness of the importance of transatlantic R&I cooperation drawing the attention to the new strategy for international cooperation, adopted by the EC in September 2012
  • Discussing obstacles and challenges to transatlantic R&I cooperation
  • Communicating  the importance and possible ways of joining forces and tackling global challenges
